Moving briskly on ...

Fred has been considerably lightened and now sports my Magic Bag Lite. Which I have made heavier by adding my new Surly hip flask which contains expensive rum. What could possibly ...

Moving back a step...

Lighter bike, hip flask - sounds like you're gearing up for a day and night ride to a northern destination

This is an opportune moment to advise those without the knowledge of history in this particular regard - I was navigator on the fated Essex B team assault on York previously - I navigated us to a flooded road causing us at least an hour of diversion, the rest is best blanked out from our collective memory unless we need to remind ourselves why we now don't do early Easter Arrows

Unusually, OD wasn't train-finder-in-chief for that escapade.

Still working on that one...

I probably need to move from talking about doing rides to actually riding them

I'm flushed with energy and enthusiasm after The Shark and participation in the Essex arrow b or c team for next year sounds appealing. I'm afraid I'm not Captain material since I'd struggle to navigate out of Essex, but any of you trustworthy fellows would make a fine captain, even ted if he has a reliable bike that's not too heavy and has some gears, or not, by next Easter.

Welcome to the team.  You will need to work on slowing down a bit though.

Hopefully Raymond can be persuaded as well.  He's very much a core part of the B team.

Would be great to have Raymond on the team but how are we gonna persuade him to ride with us lazy slackers?

I can't believe you're all talking about next Easter!  Oaky must be having a fit right now.

It's called planning and it's encouraged on this thread.

That's nearly a full team already.  We must be the first for 2017 ?

I think Untapp'd servers must have gone into meltdown.

ted is well into his relaxed lunch with Mrs ted, and there's not even one entry on there yet!

Cocktails, just say no kids.

Stick to Class A drugs. Much more sensible.

OK, here goes ...

Me, BFC on some ridiculous looking track bike, huggy, Oaky and AndyC3333333 set off from the Spa Road roundabout.  Heaven only knows where Doggers was, does he still exist?

Oaky decided not to go anywhere near anything that resembled a dodgy surface.  huggy's Garmin had a brain fart near The Compasses so stopped at which point we lost Oaky and BFC.  Nobody had their bike pinched as we passed The Compasses.

At the top of TMNH we met jibers doing repeats and moaning about his hip, he was also coughing.

At the pub the Danbury Dogger turned up and shortly after tippers and Tomsk arrived too.  There were 3 beers on offer but I can't remember the names of any of them.

Sensibly conversational topics included audaxes (various), Lars' memorial on Sunday.  Then we talked about something else which won't be mentioned on a public forum and it was suggested I start a thread about it which I'm not going to do.

Then I remembered I had my hip flask with me and it got passed around so everyone could have a slurp ...

More beer was ordered, I asked for a G&T and some tit suggested I have a cocktail ...

It was a Harvey Warbanger or some such I gather, I had a hangover this morning and was pi55ed when I got home and crashing about according to my annoyed and awoken wife.

Curiously the landlord seemed to want us to leave bang on 11pm, something about a wake today.  Given we spent in excess of £100 in his largely empty pub you'd think he would have been more welcoming  ::-) >:(

£100 for a cocktail seems steep, no wonder you were pissed.

Glad it all went well.

I will do better and try to be out next week.  I may even suggest a venue and route.

DL will reappear soon no doubt.

Great report OD but wrong thread???  ???

Perhaps we should start a new MEMWNS thread with an alternative name....  "The Thread for MEMWNS ride reports that should be in the MEMWNS Thread "

What does it say in teh rulz?  ???

No, this is the thread for reports, miscellany and forward planning.

The MEMWNS thread is for near-term planning of MEMWNS rides only.

Those be the rulz.

The other thing this thread is for is dealing with serious matters.

Unfortunately I have one such to raise.

It seems that not everyone is taking their commitment to Untappd as seriously as they ought to.

A snapshot this morning reveals the following worrying stats:

Huggy - GSTQ Level 8 - Journeyman

Doggers GSTQ Level 7 - Apprentice

OD GSTQ Level 5 - Apprentice

Jiber - GSTQ Level 10  - Journeyman

Only Oaky can hold his head high:

Oaky GSTQ Level 13 - Journeyman

Meanwhile, Tippers hasn't even got an account.

Where is the dedication ?
