Ony yacfers doing the Musselburgh RCC 24th Tour of East Lothian 100km audax this sunday?

I'm doing it - should be a bit easier as I'll be on a Pinnacle Dolomite 2 rather than my old Dawes Horizon Tourer! Might miss the granny triple ring on the Rigg though....   :)

I going to give it a spin.  Don't think I'll be setting any records.  Weather forecast is suggesting a bit of a brisk breeze.  :o

I'm keeping a close eye on the forecast!  May or may not see you there depending on the weather

More than likely going to be a DNS for me looking at the weather forecast - 20mph gusting to 38 according to met office, plus yellow weather warning of SNO!   >:(

If there's SNO the route may be changed to one that doesn't include the Rigg.

Even so, don't fancy 8 hours cycling in the wind & rain...   :(

Well, emailed organised to say that I'll be a DNS due to lack of fitness (and mojo) on my part, combined with poor weather forecast.

The BBC Weather is giving the following for the Borders:-

Accumulations [of snow] of 2 to 5 cm are expected in places above 150 m, with 10 cm or more over high ground above 300 m. Winds will gust to over 50 mph on coasts and hills, leading to drifting and blizzard conditions on high level routes.

The route tops out at 430m therefore I'm out!

That forecast only omits to mention that the wind was a headwind on the approach to redstone rig.

I did along with Torc Torrance. Charlie Orr, Campbell Stewart and other assorted adventurers.  Very tough day out in east Lothian.  Got to give the blue tinged controllers standing out on the summit of the 'Rigg' in blizzard conditions a massive amount of respect; dishing out words of encouragement and droll humour; its not down hill from here.

Its the only event I have been on where chain gangs formed not for speed or company but for warmth.   :o

Highlight was watching Torc trying to eat his frozen cheese sandwiches.

The Great Duncan Peet (Grandfather of Audaxing en Ecosse) once told me that, having entered the Tour of East Lothian, he would be staging a re-enactment of The Retreat from Moscow on Redstone Rigg.

Edited for crap spelling.
It's a bit weird, but actually quite wonderful.
