Do not clench. It only makes it worse.

What’s amazing is that when they’re moving they look 6-7cm long, and stopped and feeding about 2-3cm. And the one this morning was getting under the door when I caught it (in a tea towel) and that gap can’t be more than 8mm!!

Hoots mon!

Yes, its nose isn't nearly pointy enough to be a shrew.

Yep, got confused. It’s got (visible) ears so a (field) mouse, not a shrew.

I've seen mice squeeze under doors that were a struggle to pass a cat5 cable under.  That's what, 6mm?  Plus a bit so the cable doesn't immediately get shredded.

(Cat5 cable appears ineffective at deterring meece.)

Setting mousetraps in the lounge and kitchen. I caught one mouse in the kitchen this morning. Just seen another in the lounge, don’t know how long it’s been in here. Wish the damned cat would eat them  >:(

Ah ha! Caught it  :D. Humanely of course. Off to the (neighbours) garden with it  8) 8)

Actually I think this one is a shrew.

Heh.  The other evening MrsT shook out the blanket we put over the parrot at night and sent a mouse flying across the kitchen.  Poor wee bugger made a 4-point landing and ran off under a cupboard.

I must have a look for traps like yours. We used poison when we had a mass invasion >10 years ago, but we were between dogs at the time. Don't want poisonous dead mice lying around for a gluttonous Lab to find.

Do you think the French will do non-lethal traps?  ;D

Wondering where my cup of tea went. I had no recollection of drinking it, but, knowing which type of mug I used, and also knowing that we have only 4 like that and they are all accounted for, somebody did.

I have just poured myself another, in a clean mug. You can't be too careful.

Waiting for the workman to turn up and tile our bathroom.  Apparently he's going to be late because his boss promised to obtain tiles then didn't, and the shops don't open until 10.  I'm also betting that his mate will have failed to return his tile cutter in a timely manner...

ETA: He bought a shiny new tile cutter, but no grout...

Yawning prodigiously while waiting for the postman.  Miss von Brandenburg had her copy of the limited vinyl edition of the mighty Amplifier's magnum opus The Octopus delivered on Friday so I have had to get up early as there are many stairs betwixt bed and front door even if the doorbell succeeds in waking me up chiz.

Looking at a book I've been threatening to re-read for years. Now I actually have some enforced leisure time, I might just pick it up.

I think the mail room at Ampcorp Industries are posting people's Octopuses in alphabetical order and have Miss von Brandenburg filed under "B".

Just back from picking up our 20-year-old A4 from its Contrôle Technique.  Was determined to junk it if anything major was wrong - it's only worth around 700€ - but they had no quibbles so it's free to chug around for another 2 years.  Glad of that: I don't fancy hauling dogs to the vet's in the A5.

I’m now inna pubbe, with a pint of decent stout to decompress.  Families can be hard work.

Spent the day helping out setting up the CX course at Knockburn Loch for tomorrow's CX event.  A cold day! Shoved about one million stakes in the hard ground, and run enough plastic barrier tape between them to run to the moon and back.

Back tomorrow for marshalling duties.

Contemplating what I might have forgotten, in the hour before some dozen people descend on Ham Hall, to do the dirty to turkey etc

Worryingly everything seems to be running on task at the moment. That increases the likelihood that the people will end up being an hour or more late. I think a beer is in order.

Waiting for the man from BT to install some piece of internet gubbins while wondering whether Nice Man Mike from Andrews & Arnold really meant "Monday" or "December 4" in the e-mail confirming the date ???

Which discrepancy I only noticed at 11 pm yesterday chiz.

Yesterday's utter vacuum of BT technicians has led me to the conclusion that Nice Man Mike at A&A did mean the 4th.  Since I get charged seventy quid if they show up and there's no-one in, I am already preparing my invoice, just in case.
