Watching "Dune" and remembering watching it on HBO in the US...in the 80s!

All the shite on the radio; everyone's voice sounds as if it's been through a computer.  Which, of course, it has.  Anyway, all the good melodies had more or less been used up by the 1980s.

Occasionally, I notice that somebody seems to have grafted my dad's wrinkly old hands onto the ends of my arms. Quite odd sometimes.

OT students on placement looking at me like I have two heads when I tell them that when I was in primary school I knew three people who didn't have indoor toilets, and one of them didn't even have a flushing outside toilet, just an earth closet.

This is the way to be. That way you don't spend all your later years going to funerals.

I do that, especially for women.  She's over 40?  Well over the hill!  Oh, wait...

Everything....

A colleague asked me the other day, as we struggled to unload a wet bag of paper, how old I was.

43, I said.

Blimey, he said, you've got 5 years on me and I'm thinking I'm getting too old for this job...

I'm not the oldest on the recycling team, but only by 3 months. Now I think about it, I'm not sure there's anyone working at St Nicks (as opposed to volunteers) who is older than Jonny and me.

I thought then, that I don't really think of my age, as a figure.  I do find that my default 'now' is the 80's.  If someone mentions the 60's, I automatically think "20 years ago" and then have to readjust.

Having to work out my age from my date of birth.

Most of my colleagues have now retired.

I remember when milk was delivered to our house. By a horse and cart. Seriously.

Yeah, me too. It amazes me that people born in the 80s are old enough to have jobs.

Seeing things in museums I remember being in everyday use. This first happened to me 25 years ago in a computer museum in Boston (US).

Knowing that one is old enough to be the father of the Chancellor of the Exchequer. And wishing one's own children would get the chance to show the useless fecker how it's done.

I have been working for my current employer since before some of my colleagues were born.  Mind you, I am still the most juvenile.

Realising that I was a company director before some of the colleagues in my new employment were born.

Realising that I have no hope danger of promotion as I am the older than my boss and several people in my department who have been with the company for years.
