That was excellent! I was astonished at how fast the ordinarys can go at - watching it makes me want to have a go on one. Well done Charlotte - I presume the race I saw at 8.30 was the second race?
Good to see Tim, Jurek, Martin and assorted yACFers.
If I'd taken a hint from Jurek I'd have gone in by train and had more of a wander around - as it was, it was a bit too crowded to freely wander around wheeling a bike. Great to see such a cross-section of people out to see the racing  :)

Edit: I was also astonished to see how fast a Brommie can go.

So, the races managed to go ahead with no significant rain then.  That's good.

Zipperhead's final photograph (the one he replaced) now shows a very yellow Ordinary.  It occurs to me, that in the few Ordinaries I've ever seen, I've never seen bright colours, although to be fair, a bike as yellow as that is rare amongst more conventional safety bikes as well!
Actually, it is rocket science.

Yes, you panned that picture just right to catch the speed.

I was hot on Joff's heels heading into the first downhill corner in the first race, as if it wasn't scary enough revving out he then took both feet of the peddles to get max speed, I didn't think he was going to get round it in one piece  :o  very exciting stuff

If you go to the picasa album it's there as a higher res. I'll have a check for other pictures of you tonight and PM you (although I think that one was the best)

Quote from: Metro
A competitor (name not known) lifts her bike above her head before taking part in the Brooks Penny Farthing Sprint, during the IG Markets Nocturne night time inner city cycling event, at Smithfield Market in London.

What, do these people not watch The One Show? ;D

can anyone with access to sky sports 3 record the programme about smithfield nocturne?

"The event will be screened at 19:00 on Friday 17 June on Sky Sports 3, and repeated Saturday 18th June, 01:30 on Sky Sports 2."

i'd be very interested to watch it..

Somewhat belatedly, I've put a few pics up here

Equipment problems (flash not flashing, numpty operator) meant not much in the way of action shots.  Can you all race again, now I've fixed the flash?

There are two ways you can get exercise out of a bicycle: you can
"overhaul" it, or you can ride it.  (Jerome K Jerome)
