Title: New Brompton rear rack but....
Post by: SA_SA_SA_SA on 06 December, 2016, 12:18:51 pm
Brompton seem to have updated the rear rack* but....
it looks very similar (so not likely to be much lighter?)

I was hoping that they would make a new  optional lighter more minimalist rear rack for those who buy a rear rack merely for the extra folded stability and/or greater choice in rear lamps (and perhaps to support a rucksack hung from  a transverse rod through saddle rails (see AtoB Nov2016 page 17 or http://pathlesspedaled.com/2011/07/video-backpacks-on-bromptons/ (http://pathlesspedaled.com/2011/07/video-backpacks-on-bromptons/) ).
It would nice if the lighter rack option looked better but the new black option would do :)

Perhaps in 2017......

It looks like the only real difference are cutouts for the bungees at the front of the rack, making it slightly more convenient to use.

Sounds like they've changed the Easy Wheel mounting, too (possibly just a different sized bolt)?  Presumably to support the new unified wheels.

I've got that rear Q-rack... it weighs nothing compared to the original, provides nearly the carrying ability of the original but not as much balance when folded....
