Dog advice

Mrs B always likes to keep Megan, the Border Terrier,  neatly clipped.  Well, not always that neatly.   Mrs B does it herself and Megan has had quite a few bad hair days.
Well, Meg was obviously distressed with the heat today.  Mrs B wants to give her a more severe clip because of this.
My concerns are, dogs don't cool in the same way that we do.  We take layers off to enable cooling by sweat evaporation from the skin.  As far as I am aware,  dogs don't sweat.
Very short hair is going to allow sun on skin that never normally sees the light of day.  I am concerned about the risk of sun stroke.

Thoughts please.
