Di2 hole rubber bungs
« on: 02 October, 2017, 09:13:33 am »
One seems to have gone AWOL after only a couple of weeks, leading me to think I may need a supply of them

£1.99 seems extortionate https://www.evanscycles.com/bmc-plug-di2-fd-cable-tm01-tm02-EV158264 - but that's the lowest price I've found (higher exists)

A bag of 100 shouldn't cost more than £5. Anyone know a better source/alternative product? I'm thinking of helicopter tape, punched out by a hole punch would be close to perfect.

A blob of hot melt glue and a red hot paper clip to push through and return the edges inside to retain, then a wet finger to flatten down the outside to suit. ?

maybe glue the next one in the hole? Or use a clear tape (anti-scuff) patch over the plug or over the hole..?

Another approach is to use a blob of silicone sealant. If you can access the inside of the tube with the bung in, you can form the rear of the sealant 'plug' so that it won't easily come out of the tube.

BTW I agree that they are taking the wee-wee at £2 a go.... ::-)

cheers

You thought £2 was expensive? how about €5 ? https://www.hibike.com/specialized-cable-stop-di2-rubber-plug-stopper-for-closing-unused-wire-holes-p7fe0a6cd1222ac8d01c80934e3ee18ce

It should come as no surprise to hear I can't get to the reverse of the hole, silicone AND helicopter tape is beginning to sound attractive

What's wrong with these?

Or are you just wanting to block unused holes?
