[LEL17] LRM 1200+ medal??
« on: 07 October, 2017, 10:21:58 pm »
LRM medal, after the last LEL there was a rather helpful post here, or somewhere else, I'm not sure, pointing me in the direction of a way to claim a LRM 1200+ medal which, I duly did. I'd like to do the same again however, I cannot seem to find the information /route to do this, can anyone help please?

AFAIK, it has to be done as a bulk order through the UK ACP Correspondent (who just happens to be the AUK chair).

I don't know if Chris Crossland normally handles this sort of thing directly or if, for LEL, it'll be mediated through alwyn, but if he doesn't see it here I'll try to remember to ask him at the AUK board meeting next week.

many thanks for the sensible response, judging by the response to my post on the lel facebook page, it appears there would be sufficient interest to justify an order.

ooh after a little searching it becomes apparent a note regarding the medal was sent in the returned brevet card and, previous person that I ordered it from was Keith Benton - I don't know if he will be the same person again or, the role may have passed to Allan Taylor. I will wait and, see with interest.

I'm not on Facebook so can't follow the discussion there but, please, could someone tell me what a LRM1200+ medal is?

(and if anyone says "a circular piece of metal" I will get very cross)
Why should anybody steal a watch when they can steal a bicycle?

Returned brevet card?

Are you discussing LEL 2017 or some other event?

That medal used to be mandatorily issued to every finisher of a LRM brevet, even when the organiser had created their own medal. Now it is up to each organiser whether to provide the generic medal or not.

LRM medals can be ordered direct from the LRM Vice President - Rainer Paffrath -- paffi@randonneure-deutschland.de Cost is €5+ postage.  The design has changed since 2013 (does so after every  PBP)
Keith Benton LRM President

Hello Keith, many thanks for confirming this information, regarding ordering should I wait until the brevet is returned or, will there be no bulk order as by yourself as there was in 2013?

You will need your homologation number before you can order  AUK validates as an AUK event then it comes to me to allocate the International number and this then appears on the LRM website
The reason I had a stock last time because I was running both the President & VP jobs
This time since postage is going to cost whatever method is used I would prefer to leave it to Rainer
I'll try & get a note inserted in riders' returned brevet cards to tell them that they can apply for (yet another!) medal

There are some enquiries re the LRM Medal which is available to LEL finishers in addition to the LEL one
As you will see above these are distributed by the LRM Vice President who is German
I am meeting him in January and could bring back some medals and post them out thus saving overseas postage charge
If you would like one send me an Email before 5 January with your details - keith@dkb123.plus.net
