Title: Spezialradmesse Aka 'Spezi'
Post by: Luke on 01 May, 2008, 12:25:19 pm
Last weekend I went to the 'spezialradmesse' in Germershiem. My photos from the event are here (http://www.flickr.com/photos/11609065@N08/sets/72157604810977346/with/2455306482/).

Plenty of recumbents and folders on show, as well as other interesting and unusual bikes.

But what on earth is this?

That Bernds folder seem like a good alternative to Brompton! Did you have a go?

Looks like some sort of reciprocating drive to me, just not very elegantly engineered. Perhaps because it's intended to be retrofittable to a normal transmission?

The Trice-based velomobile looks tempting...

But what on earth is this?

Looks like it changes the circular motion of pedaling to a back and forth movement.

As to why? I'm not sure. Maybe useful to people with limited leg mobility(?).

I didn't try one, nor did I spend much time looking at them for that matter. Folded size looks like its larger than the brompton tho'. Me, I'm after a birdy.

Rocket engine optional? :D
Did see some of those at PBP last year. Only participents that stayed some what dry...

If my squintling eyesight and dodgy memory-branes are working, the gadget on the trailer is a Velérique like wot this is:

Brands Hatch, 1982 (though the bike had been in production for some years by then).
