(Before/After)
First I ticked off the last of the Beachley ballsack (The Coombe & loop below)
Next I used a footpath to get the two tiles to the south of the m in Tiddenham. The Farm owners were totally cool about me taking a bike along the footpath which was mostly just ancient farm track. The only bit where the 24" gear was needed was retracing a steep section made of brickyard seconds. Then up the A48 and onto another footpath (all be it mostly tarmac access road) to get the tile east of Stroat. I did get glared at a bit along there. Perfectly suitable surfaces for a bike so any unreasonable behaviour complaint would be utter bolx. I even passed a 'private road' sign (it isn't) attached to the same post as a (suspected fake) cctv camera and a Public Footpath sign. Another spurt along the A48 got me to the brilliantly named Plusterwine where I had a second go at bagging this tile:
So far I have been a Good Boy here. When I approached from the north I kept strictly to the footpath straight across the field as shown. The one person to have this tile on RideEveryTile followed the track by Warth Brook, not a PROW. At the 'track' parallel to the river which is actually a flood defence embankment there are signs saying to the NE of that point along the embankment is permitted foot access, by permission of Lydney Park estate, please don't go SW so I didn't. Today's try from the West is a restricted byway up to the trees where I turned back. The NE path not taken to Cone Brook is continuation of the restricted byway but totally overgrown, I was in shorts.
I have 4 options to get this tile:
- Go back and take the not PROW track by Warth Brook
- Continue past the stand of trees coming in from the West again, it is a footpath there.
- Take the MTB and suit of armor and bash through the restricted byway to Cone Brook.
- Park up in Alvington and walk in to the middle of the North edge of the tile. It's a footpath all the way. There's a pub by the A48 junction
I favour option 4...
