[LEL17] Info for anyone planning to stop at Alston
« on: 29 July, 2017, 10:56:01 am »
Having got there yesterday for my first look at the place since the initial recce in January, I was a little alarmed to find the school was in the middle of refurbishment that we weren't told about. So a few things to bear in mind:

1. It will be tight for space but we'll do our best to welcome as many as we can
2. There is no hot running water. There are no showers.
3. Bike parking is limited outside but as they've lifted the carpets, they said we could store some bikes inside
4. Although the workers will be gone by 6pm, they'll start at 7am, so that's an early morning call for you.

Other than that, it is as advertised. Open overnight only. Soup, sandwiches, drinks, cakes, fruit for dinner, cereal and toast for breakfast. Some extended accommodation for anyone unable to continue before organising their trip home.

Thanks,

Your friendly, neighbourhood, deputy controller.
I am often asked, what does YOAV stand for? It stands for Yoav On A Velo

Possibly daft question, but what do you mean by "overnight"?  6pm-7am?  Only ask as I was envisaging stopping in for breakfast on the return leg  :)
Why should anybody steal a watch when they can steal a bicycle?
