Thanks Martin for the bump, I've been a bit tardy in getting this ride listed on here.
Yes, named after the classic Teenage Fanclub debut, and the ride starts from St Peters Square in Hammersmith (one-time home of Island Records). No other religious significance, heathens and atheists more than welcome. The ride is aimed at novice audaxers and many of the entrants thus far are first-timers at this distance so good to have some old-hands on the road to guide them in our curious ways. I'm providing manned controls including a Village Hall at the halfway point in Houghton Conquest , and hopefully a surprise bonus for the weary traveller at Wheathampstead, the penultimate control.
It's a good route on quiet roads, not flat by any means with 1800m of climbing including a sting in the tail with an ascent of Harrow Hill at 190km. Obviously, any ride finishing in Hammersmith will mean some urban traffic in the last 15km. The closing miles take you through Wembley (good roti's here if you are hungry) and Harlesden and south through Old Oak and Acton to the finish on the river at The Old Ship.
To support the ride, and other events in the London area I created a website, take a look if you get a chance. It's aimed primarily at those new to audax and lends a lot of content from LianF's LWL site. If you want me to list your ride (only stipulation is it starts inside the M25) please get in touch.
