Drat. I was resolved to do the Bryan Chapman on my geared bike (with it's rather accomodating 27"-110" gear range) but all of the love of the single cog on evidence in this thread means I am now pondering an unspeakable act of self-flagellation whereby I simply plump for the simplicity of Ein Zahnkranz (like Max Mosely, I prefer to express acts of masochism in Deutsche).  Thanks

I'm seriously considering the Madone.

What I need is:

- carrying capacity.  The barley can be fitted via a bagman; in fact I'd probably just swap the saddle from the Yukon.

- lighting

Rear lighting is easy.  Front would not be a dynamo.  The IXON IQ is tempting plus the trusty 1303 for high speed dark descents.

I think my only doubt is how will the bike be with a barley on there with all the usual crap in it?
