I see article 13 of the regulations hasn't changed.

that's because it's still showing the 2007 version - "PBP 2011 rules will be available in january 2011"  ;)

I'm a little confused but I'm sure this must have been discussed / answered elsewhere.

Do I need to ride a single 1000km BRM this year to pre-register on April 3rd or is it a total of 1000km during 2010?

If the former, I'm screwed
Why should anybody steal a watch when they can steal a bicycle?

yes; but as has been discussed only those few UK riders who complete the Mille Cymru 1000; Lowlands 1200 and a few others will benefit from this so a 2010 600 should guarantee an entry (from Apr 17)

Shouldn't matter either way

If you qualify in 2011 that'll likely be enough  -unless there's an unprecedented amount of interest or the UK gets an unexpectedly low allocation of places.

All comforting. I just don't want to screw up this time. A combination of unforeseen events and family pressures prevented me from qualifying last time around and I'm determined to do a "good" PBP after my first effort.
Why should anybody steal a watch when they can steal a bicycle?

The UK is likely to get a much increased allocation of PBP places, given the huge rise in the number of AUK's BRM events in 2010 relative to other countries.  It is unlikely the AUK quota will be entirely filled, unlike other countries.

if this happens presumably any unfilled UK places will go towards the other countries with a waiting list?

I'd guess so but who knows with the ACP?  They change their requirements for 2010 after the 2010 calendar has been set.

I suspect they'll fiddle with the formula until it produces the figures they deem fair.

Yes, but ACP do not hibernate in the intervening ones.  2010 is important for aspiring riders of PBP2011.

The suggestion of me riding this was not met with spotaneous gag reflex followed by a vomitting of expletives by the fragrant yet feisty Mrs Hummers; more of a "well, we will see what we will see nearer the time".

The merest fact that I have risked ruining the rest of the week my broaching the subject with her can only me one thing: I am up for this.

I'm definitely out; the Lowlands 1200 was supposed to be my last big ride but that may have to wait a couple of years now.

The route (subject to change in the coming 571 days) is posted.

Is there any interest that, just like for LEL, I'll produce a Garmin map that covers the whole area between Paris and Brest, and is routable?

I'm willing to throw in (free of charge!) some POIs as well.

Tal.

You don't need a GPS on PBP, just follow the signs.
