A marked lack of lumps on the Cream Scone...

http://www.bikely.com/maps/bike-path/11-402-Cream-Scone

I'm doing it, not sure if I'm going to do the Glen Isla on the Sunday.

Dave

OK, it is mostly flat, though the high Kettins road can be a bit of a drag and North Balgillo hill is the steepest public road in the Sidlaws. But apart from that it is flattish all the way round.

I'll not be there with either the bike or the camera this year as I am off in parts foreign (even further than England).

Moulin moors is a bit lumpier ..

Actually, I wouldn't be there anyway as it is the Dundee Thistle reliability ride on the Sunday, and on teh Satruday we have a new members ride, a Bike Maintenance session and a cycle jumble.

I plan on being there, possibly with elder Noodlette if I can get her out of bed!

Entered moulin moors 150 as ECE from Blairgowrie , if thats ok audave?
Great , on line entry for both the 150 and the extention.
I see we get the scenic route round Mount Blair?

Not a problem with me xrtim. The Moulin 150 isn't quite the reverse of the Pitlochry 150. The first stage takes a detour after passing through Kirkton of Glenisla by branching off and taking a nice wee road around by Folda and Forter Castle. So you'll be going around the North side of Mount Blair and down by Blacklunans where you will rejoin the reverse route. A fine distance and the climb over Moulin is generally fairly easy from this side (wind permitting). If you want to sample a pint at the Moulin Inn you'd better have good brakes as you'll be fleein down hill into Pitlochry at that stage.

Just taken a look on Met check, the forecast for the Pitlochry area on Sat is looking a little bracing.

I'll be honest the idea of riding in driving now for seven hours does not sound fun.

I have the possibility of a local 100k that I might be able to turn into a 150DIY Eck permitting on the Sunday.

Weather was perfect today - no wind and sunny!!!

Bah !!
Keep on keeping on.

The weather forecast has improved significantly. No snow anymore.

http://www.metcheck.com/V40/UK/FREE/dayforecast.asp?zipcode=ph9&day=3

If it continues to improve at this rate it'll be shorts and t-shirts weather!  ::-)  ;D
Weather forecast for the weekend?

I do love that "Feels" column on Metcheck.
Minus 6 and 7 is that if you are against the 20MPH wind or with it ?
It,ll be the thick Buffalo for me then?

The snow is back in the forecast and is due to kick off Friday afternoon around the Perth area and looks to be pretty much constant through the night.

If the snows deep and one can average 9 MPH then you should reach The Genisla Hotel by opening time where we could wait for the ploughs on MONDAY ?

BBC forecast for Pitlochry Sat  - 0900 - 1500 hrs heavy snow temp + 1 or 2 wind 5mph.

Spoke to the forecaster at Leuchars this morning and he confirmed the forecast indicating that caution should be taken due to a possible risk of a high wind chill factor in a strengthening wind.

Does anyone know, in light of the weather forecast, if there is a likelihood of this event being cancelled or postponed?

Don't think my liver could take a 48 hour stay in the Genisla Hotel

What's the collective view?

Is tomorrow gonna be hellish?

Do I have to fit ice spikes?

Should I stay at home and eat crisps instead?
Keep on keeping on.

I am trying to contact a mate in the RAF Mountian Rescue Team at Leuchars for a professional view.

I want to do this ride but I‘m acutely aware of the dangers (having worked on MRT) and ramifications of not taking a responsible decision.

I will drop the organiser an email and take his guidance into consideration as well.

If the predicted weather arrives I'll be stopping in bed. If the event isn't cancelled I'll make a decision in the morning. I've prepped the mountain bike just in case I'm feeling really stupid ::-)

I'll make my final decision after the BBC Scotland weather tonight.

Option 1 - get up at silly o'clock, drive through snow to Forfar, man up and get on with doing the ride  :'(

Option 2 - stay in warm bed, watch rugby on TV while drinking beer  :o

Tough choice.

Well, we were planning for the ride on Sunday, it's only sleet with 28mph winds forecast instead of snow  ::-)
But I dont fancy driving up on Sat through the snow, not to mention freezing in the campervan overnight....so after a wee look at the weather FC tonight we might be staying in sunny Edinburgh....

On the basis that it's a bit daft to head for a snow cloud, stay under it to reach the start of a 150, which then heads for the hills under the same cloud ..... it's Option 2 for me.

DNS  :(

See you all at the next one.   Have Pm'd the organiser.

I'm not going either, I had a message from my Mum in St Cyrus, "don't bother coming up to see us, you know how quickly we get cut off with the snow"

So even if I got there, getting out to the start wasn't looking likely.
