Is this the same route we done last year as a group DIY?

Looks to be very similar to the GPS trace i recorded that day Jim

At the risk of over-analysing everything à la LEL, I found this info on the aforementioned tea room:

Kind Kyttock's Kitchen
Cross Wynd
Falkland, Fife
Opening: Open daily 1030 – 1730

Just about doable for a slower rider, fine though if you're averaging 23kph or somesuch. Otherwise it's whichever local hostelry is open and willing to give a receipt, I suppose...

There's a bank to get a receipt from. I used it on the Mille Alba.

Cashline receipt from the bank in Falkland used to give it's location as Cupar, which is actually a few miles away. But I'm sure the organiser wouldn't mind.

My brother lives in Falkland. I'm sure he and his wife would be delighted to welcome 90 riders for tea and scones. Would you like his address?  O:-)
It's a bit weird, but actually quite wonderful.

I'm in I will try too get a 100 mile training run in before . Then I may have some fitness to create my usual disruptive carnage?

Dinnae worry, no matter what time you arrive at the controls there will be somewhere to get something to eat and drink. Full value riders will have the choice between the hotel or the pub. There's also plenty options for a kebab and a carry oot on the last leg through Lochgelly,  Cowdenbeath and Crossgates.

I do like the diplomatic euphemisms used in audax.

'Full value rider" is a good one. "Scenic route" another.

Everyone who's entered should have received an email with the routesheet and other info. Hopefully I haven't missed anyone, but with over 90 riders it's a possibility, so get in touch if it hasn't arrived.

At the moment the wind gusts forecast for the Forth Road Bridge on Sunday are 44mph which is getting pretty close to the 50mph at which they close the bridge to cyclists. Therefore I will shortly be sending everyone a routesheet for the "Not the Forth and Tay 200" as a precaution in case the bridge is shut - controls at Dalmeny - North Berwick - Innerleithen - Biggar - Dalmeny. Hopefully the weather will calm down a bit and you can spend the day in Fife but if not you can sample East Lothian and the Borders instead.

Just DNFed this. Snow was coming down quite thick at the start and thats at sea level. Most appeared to turn back at the north side of the Forth Road Bridge. I found my crank arm loose on Friday and reattached it but noticed on the ride this morning that its making an odd clicking and gringing feel occasionally as I ride. Bummer as I only replaced the Bottom Bracket in Jan...

Went down to the start through a blizzard with an inch lying snow . I did not start as side roads will be bad. 31 started out of 90 entered . Most of them returned within the hour that I stood and drank coffee and ate cakes . Saw another 4 returning on the Forth Bridge as I headed home. The snow flurries forecast have now been a 3 hour blizzard in Fife and parts of the M90 are bad . Final figures will make good reading , remember 90 entered and 2 finishers at this time ie the organiser and his helper who did it last week.

Any ideas who they were as I'm not sure they've told me they've packed?

Aye it was hellish out there. Still looks pretty bad, I can only imagine conditions further north on high ground. I packed at the north end of the bridge and headed back to the start for tea with most of the folk who started...

I had been feeling bad at missing this ride but it sounds like the ski holiday was the best choice after all. Snow works so much better for skis!

Otherdave and I were two of the DNSs: I posted our tale of woe on FB:
Quote
Well, David Fawcett and I managed a 30 mile ride this morning. But not as planned. We got down the M90 as far as Kelty about 7.15 when it began to white-out. We decided to come off the motorway and head back home. Going down the long slope into Kelty, we hit some black ice, skidded and pranged a front wheel hard on a kerb, knackering the suspension. We got AA rescue back up to the Honda garage in Perth, and rode home to Kirrie from there. Luckily for me, but not for David, we were in his car. Good luck to anyone still out.
The FB report omitted to mention that we had McBreakfast in McPerth before we set off home. The 30 miles took 2h11m into the wind all the way. Auchterarder to St Andrews in that wind must have been hellish, if anyone made it that far.
It's a bit weird, but actually quite wonderful.
