Yoicks!  You're practically next door to my grate frend Uncle Marvo, the notorious aqua-pikey.  Avoid Lower Ringstead lock around closing time.

50 miles done before 8 am! I think that's a record.

Forget that. It does help to remember to wake up sufficiently to refresh Steve's tracker page before posting about his achievements.

2nd edit: now I am totally confused. My first assessment was correct in that it was the right route being shown, but I could ahve sworn it said over 50 miles achived today.

Time for my tablets...

Light snow on the walk to the client office in York this morning.  Fingers crossed it is nothing to worry about.

Just like Tommy then. He fell off on ice several times during his first winter. Somebody should tell him that he doesn't need to break Tommy's number of falls too.

Where is TG headed today? The A45 is probably well-gritted, and it would finish off an excellent CDC.

I hope it's not as horrible in Buckinghamshire as it is here. At least TG is now South of home, so on average is going to get a push home.

The rain and wind have just started (I'm just south of Aylesbury)  but they'll thankfully be at his back mostly until he stops I think. Then looking much colder over the next few days at least.

I wonder if TG has anyone he could visit in Lincolnshire or Norfolk tomorrow night. Definitely looks like a day to be travelling with the wind. Is there anything in the rules about putting up a sail?

Hope to God he isnt badly hurt from the off.  Dont suppose tarmac or ice is any softer now than in 1939. Good Luck Steve.

Little bit of snow here. I felt brave doing 20 kms. :-[

Currently he is pencilled in for another night being looked after by Aidan at home . Team ( and I suspect Steve too ) are reluctant to switch plans -- needs route master and Steve to agree early enough to summon up  new host. I know Norfolk/Suffolk provide this - but there is still the problem of the next day -- is it now a headwind all day?

Looks like winds of the 20-30mph variety from SW for most of tomorrow, worse in the afternoon/evening. The ideal would probably be to head into the wind for 3 hours first thing in the morning and then be blown all the way to Cromer in the afternoon. 3pm until midnight says 25-50mph on MetCheck, that's something you want behind you.

Friday looks to be mostly 10-15mph from W, so it would be headwind to get back, but that's one hell of a lot less wind.

(modified to make the minor change s/E/W/, ahem)
