[HAMR] January mileage race
« on: 24 January, 2015, 08:34:16 am »
Cycle_dr has been pegged back a little,  but seems to be maintaining a ~350k lead.

23 days down, 8 to go. Steve's recent days probably put some pressure on him,  but he looks likely to stay ahead now (barring disasters etc). Having a whole day's lead is a good buffer.

Not sure if he just wanted to average 300k/day month? Or if he wanted the record.

1   -   Cycle_dr 1   Richmond, England, United Kingdom   29   7,237.7   -

3   -   Thommo T.       Perth, WA, Australia   38   5,128.9   2,108.8

Is Cycle_Dr going for the Tommy Goodwin record too?

Ah, I was referring to the 1-month record.

(He certainly hasn't entered HAMR officially)

Per Cycling Weekly Dave 'Bruce' Berkeley aka @Cycle_dr 1 who "set a Guinness World Record last year after riding 2800km in a week" has picked a new target of most miles cycled in a month and is aiming for 10,000km in January.

How this stands against Tommy Godwin's logged mileage of 8583 miles in July 1939 (http://www.tommygodwin.com/1939-stats/july/) is one of the quirks of how records are recorded - I suspect that the Comic's hacks have overlooked that detail  :o

So I would assume that once 'Bruce' packs up his bike and returns to Richmond, UK, Steve will overtake him.

This bloke has a poor reputation on an Aussie cycling forum.

Maybe, I don't spend much time on Aussie forums nowadays. Over-moderated and bland.

That's because Steve has had a three Strava uploads duplicated today. 28th/25th/22nd

The real figures are

Cycle_Dr 1 9446 km
Steve 9002.7 km

As mentioned in the other thread, it looks like there were some temporary duplicates of some of the uploaded files which have propagated to the MTS. Steve's real total is 9003km. [x-post]

Steve uses the auto upload process, so when he has to load the ride from say the 810 rather than the 1000, Strava finds rides it thinks are not duplicates in its history and auto uploads them.

It looks now as if his list of rides is correct and non-duplicated again, BUT strava is calculating his year to date total incorrectly as 4,325.0 miles over 23 rides instead of 5,594.1 miles over 30 rides.

I have no idea why it would do this since it correctly gets the 5594 total for "rides in January".  Bizarre.

i had wondered if some rides had been flagged after the duplication uploads, but it seems not: whilst counting Marsh Gibbons earlier, I had each ride page open and none of them had the red "this activity is flagged" bar across the page.

 ???
You are in a maze of twisty flat droves, all alike.
