Looks like the man didn't head out straight for an early Gibbon. But there is hope for today given his
current location!

He's on roads I know well at the moments. Thankfully resurfaced since last year!

He's turned West in your direction now.  Not many flat roads around there.

Possibly heading through the Goring gap down to Pangbourne and the A4?  If he heads west then he would have a strengthening tailwind home.  (with a chance of a Gibbon or two)

As of yesterday Steve has passed 200km on all 49 days and 300km on 28 of those days, which, if he had registered DIY Perms would have given him 126 Audax points for the calendar year.

He's also done 10 back to back 300km rides.

<sound of boggling mind>

Nah, too hilly down your neck of the woods  :)  He once again went past the end of our lane, but once again I wasn't there!  A few more chances yet to see him pass though I reckon.

Today is Day 50 of The Effort. It seems to be going amazingly quickly. I wonder if it seems that way for the two protagonists?

That puts it into context.

For the Lumpy End To End I rode 8 x concurrent 250-280km days and was fooked by the end of i. It felt like I had done enough cycling for a while and took me about a month or so to get my legs fully back online again. To be honest, I had slowed down by day 4 and switched to impulse power on the climbs.

Go Steve!

The joy of working from home!

I saw on the tracker that Steve was coming close to my house, so nipped out ten minutes ago and gave him some roadside encouragement as he went along the B4027 near Beckley.  Also took some pics which I'll upload soon.

Aha. He's turned right at Islip, so looks like he's going for a sneaky Marsh Gibbon cycle-by.

Yes, looks that way - a stay close to home day maybe, 'cos the forecast is crap for the rest of the day.

Yes! A mid-day Gibbon! Those seem more rare than on-the-way-home Gibbons!

Maybe we'll get one of those too this very day!

One man takes on a titanic challenge of riding more than 75000 miles in a year.   What keeps him going?  Of course.  Its playing mindgames with those invisible people who wonder if he will turn right to Marsh Gibbon or left to pastures new.

He's gone back to see the size of the potholes he's been lucky enough to miss.

Having ridden up and down their mainstreet yesterday, Streetview doesn't do the craters justice, unless the recent frost and traffic has deteriorated the tarmac.
Maybe someone more local can report the pots to AVDC.
We definitely don't want a misshap.

Judging by the BBC news for Berks, he was wise to turn back north as there has been a major incident on the A34 just north of Chieveley. http://www.bbc.com/news/uk-england-berkshire-31530474

Yep, back in Marsh Gibbon. My guess is he'll head for KFC in Bicester for some food and a bit of shelter from the rain.
