Being a wimp I'm leaving it until it's properly light before setting off on a DIY 200 this morning. A quick gander at Steve's tracker and I think it's unlikely our paths will cross.

I'm resting my lurgy this weekend so feeling even more humbled by Steve's ability to be on the road before I start my commute every day.  Looks like we might have an early Gibbon today.

I will be off to my daughter's this morning to collect the chess sets that she borrowed. I am planning a muddy off-road ride tomorrow in a very unlike-Steve kind of way.

I believe we will gave a Gibbon early doors. (I actually hate that expression but feel that, in honour of the sporting achievement that this obviously is, someone has to say it so I will in the interests of nobody else doing so).

He's just Gibbonned!

There's a good chance my club ride will come across him this morning.

Saw you approaching Teddington Hands roundabout this afternoon - the Pashley is unmistakable. Saw Blacksheep on my ride this morning, too, but missed teethgrinder by a long way this weekend

Good to see him not shying away from a little bit of scenery either so early in the campaign.
It's all character building :-)

Went out this afternoon hoping to snatch a few miles with him - but defeated by the lousy mobile internet signal around Stockbridge which meant tracker not updating quickly enough.
May try again tomorrow if he takes the same route north.

Anyone know if his host tonight is on here?
If he does second breakfast in Romsey as after his last trip to these parts that would be a good place to catch up with him.

I think it had stopped hailing & sleeting by then. Did I look cold? During the first hailstorm (on the way to Stratford Upon Avon) I took to singing Jingle Bells at the top of my voice to keep my spirits up.

If I was smiling it was because my face was frozen into a grin.

I hope Steve had better weather than I did.

It's been a lovely day out here in the Fens.

I hope the predicted tailwind home, tomorrow, makes Steve's Southwards trip worthwhile.

Hard to imagine what Steve's mind-set must be. His determination surpasses anything I've ever met with.  You have to be pretty dogged to do Audax in the first place, but what he's doing is several orders of magnitude beyond that. Here's hoping for a good spring.
