Yawn.  Just about to rise into the gloom to head out for a ride.  God knows how Steve does this every day, I've got the faff and delay thing going on because the sheets are toasty and warm and the outside is perky.

Aren't a few doing the Dean and other audacious things.  Steve will ride further than many of us though, despite having nigh on 400km in his legs from yesterday.

Will be interesting to see how far he goes today.  Whether yesterday was simply a test of where his body is for another bump up in the pace.  I'd imagine it was and today will be shorter (less than 200 miles) but one never knows with Steve's engine.

If you read this Steve, great riding yesterday and have a good one today.  You're awesome.

His calendar has a provisional overnighter in Exeter, so that's a near 200 miler possibility

GO STEVE
13 miles NNW of Marsh Gibbon

The following night is a provisional at Lowestoft - that's nearly 290 miles if he goes straight through the middle of London !

He seems to have bypassed MG and gone straight into Bicester, as opposed to going bi into Straightcester. Perhaps he will come back for his daily Gibbon.

I hope there's a caff on the northern edge of Wantage coz he's been sat there for about 45 minutes.

I recall doing an audax with a control in Wantage and descending at 44 mph, which remains my highest speed on a solo machine.

Steve's obviously finding the constant slog into the wind a bit wearing.

If he can make it to Exeter tonight (winds should be easing from now to 9pm, but still headwind all the way) he should get a nice payback tomorrow. Dial in noon tomorrow on http://www.xcweather.co.uk/GB/forecast . That 290 miles might be conservative  :D But it is going to be a long, long day and night to get to Exeter - GO YOU CHAMP!

Looks like my plan has been rumbled.
The wind is very strong so I am a bit slow and won't get to Exeter till late.
Nevertheless I hope to ride the wind to Lowestoft but can always check into a hotel if I run out of steam.

We have just had lunch in a pub on the sea wall in Marsh Essex. The wind is indeed very strong, even on this side of the country.

Good luck Steve!

I figured you were either struggling with the wind or suffering the after effects of yesterday's monumental ride. "Glad" its only the wind. Here's hoping you get a massive tailwind for a monster day tomorrow.

I feel stronger now than I have all year. Just taking it easy today so I can get best use of the tailwind tomorrow.
