[HAMR] 29th March - Day 88

An unusual start to today's thread. Steve has not long arrived in Exeter and is hopefully catching up on sleep after a hard day yesterday riding into the wind all day.

That was an impressive effort! What a horrible headwind, but he got where he aimed for!

Have a good rest Steve and a safe, swift journey onward!

GO  STEVE!

He is going to run out of land today if he has the wind pushing him along.  He deserves it after yesterday - it looked a proper slog.

I have been watching this thread with wonder even since the start, but today I feel I need to add a comment.  This morning I am driving from Ely to deepest Dorset to collect my daughter and Grandson for a holiday with us.  By the time I get home tonight I will have driven LESS miles then Steve will have ridden in 2 days.  Just amazing.

GO STEVE>

Less than 4 hours between arrival and departure. 19 miles done. He seems to be having a breather in Uffculme. There seems to be a pub there, but according to Its facebook page it is closed at the moment.

When I went to bed last night, I was wondering if that hideous day into the headwind would mean that Exeter was unachievable (I'd have been in a Travelodge waaaaay before then).

Imagine my surprise, nay admiration, not only that he kept going all the way to Exeter but was also back on the road (hour lost) before I got back out of bed this morning.

My unworthiness cannot be overstated.

GO STEVE!!

In awe. A tailwind is deserved all day long after yesterday's ride.

Very relieved!!  If unplanned downtime happens, best use it to offset that sleep deficit!

Shame that the plan to capitalise on today's tailwinds haven't materialised, but that wind is not playing nice. It's positively frightening out there at the moment.

Any chance the weather played a part in the "incident"? If so, even more reason to stay off the roads a few hours.
