BTW, is Steve still aiming at PBP?  I was wondering if he had actually done a formal SR series in the qualifying period.

He won't have, as of yet, as the 600s haven't started. I believe he's done at least a BRM 200k, but the 300k seems unlikely - he was injured around the time the 300s started and the intention, AIUI, was to ride an easier, flatter SR series. If ACP aren't willing to allow some accommodation, then he might be forced to ride 3x600k. Normally that would be a cake walk for Steve (and indeed I'm intending to do this myself, though it won't be a cake walk) but given his injury, it could be tricky.

I'm sure if Steve and his team are looking at PBP, they will be thinking about this very carefully. Steve might well be forced to ditch PBP in order to keep the record attempt on track, but hopefully that won't be necessary.

Kind of ironic if they don't let him in, given what he's already done, but there'll be lots of other PBPs for him.

Is he continuing the current record attempt or starting a new one once he's back in full flow?

We're 113 days into the year & his total mileage on Strava is 17,430.6 which is an average of 154.25 miles per day so a 205 a day average is going to take some clawing back.

He is intending to have a concurrent attempt starting in the summer.
Starting with PBP would be a positive start for the second attempt.

We rode over there today and I rode 20km round with him before coming home to get ready for work.
Motorcycle training there today stopped him doing full circuits so it was a case of up hill, down hill, turn around. up hill, down hill, turn around. up hill, down hill, turn around. They left as we were leaving so at least he could start doing circuits again.
We left him as he stopped for his 25 mile break and a huge bar of Dairy Milk  ;D

Well done Steve - another 90 miles in the bag.

The Strava elevation profile (generated from the Garmin Edge 1000's barometric altimeter) shows a nice example of atmospheric pressure drift today as we see the end of the high pressure that has given us the fine weather. The bowl has risen from 35 to 80m while Steve rode around it:

It's his jersey unravelling and he hasn't noticed yet.
