I wouldn't say it was that easy until you get to Kildale and Stokesley, mind.

They are only 1:6s to Kildale, unlike the succession of 1:3s and 4s you'll be climbing and descending to Robin Hood's Bay.  ;D

Quite ;D

I was thinking of hills to point out that people should watch out for between Kirkbymoorside and Robin Hood's Bay, but it's a succession of bastards all the way past Littlebeck.

I’m just doing my GPX, using MarcusJB’s tracks as a base (I’m adding turn by turn waypoints as usual).

I’ve found what looks like a mistake after Dalton, which adds about 1km.

CET is a non-starter.  There is a spare room at Burnley Travelodge if anyone wants PM for details.

Have had two hellish weeks at work and am barely able to keep my eyes open.  Much as would like to take this ride on there are times when preserving life limb and sanity are more important.

Hope all have a good ride.

Best wishes

Is that at Low Lane? http://goo.gl/maps/pq0rs

Google sees that as a turn to the left, so has routed mine via church lane, incorrectly.
Right! What's next?

Ooooh. That sounds like a daft idea.  I am in!

Does anyone know if there is a bag drop to the sleep stop? It'd be a massive advantage to have a bag with dry shoes and everything else waiting for me!

I emailed Andy to ask about this a couple of days ago, but no response yet.

TWO.

I haven't been this apprehensive about a ride for a fair while.  But at least I'm getting a full quota of sleep in the run up, and hope that is the case tomorrow when I'll be camping 5km from the start as the rain beats out a dull rhythm on the canvas.

I get the feeling this is going to be epic.  I'll probably try to take some photos this time, to enliven the second last of my long reports that I planned to do (the last being the E2E Hummers has planned, should it come to pass, although that one is likely to be made into an Arrivee article).

I've not heard of a bag drop being put on.  I'm not banking on one, but if Andy is prepared to ferry some stuff then I may take advantage of it.  Particularly for fresh shorts and socks (which will otherwise be stuffed in a drybag in my Barley).  Will be nice to change into dry stuff at the vilalge hall sleepstop.

Yep.

Shortly after the app I was using crashed and all the work I'd done up to there and beyond was lost. Fortunately replotting again only took 5-10 minutes. I'm currently up to Rosedale Bank.

Got you. As you can see google is just following what it thinks is the main road (even though it is a turn). Common google issue sadly!

I will correct mine later when I am home.

My room in Burnley Travelodge will be available if you want - at least means you willl start dry!!

I understand your apprehension totally. This is a different ride to anything from what I see.

But, you have officially been up more hills than anyone else this year, so you are in a better position than most of us to tame this beast.

See you on the startline.

Fuck it.  I'm doing this.  I'll simply look back with regret at being a pussy when I read the ride reports of those bold enough to give it a crack.

Weather forecasts starting to take shape and it isn't maybe as awful as previous forecasts were suggesting.

The wind looks stern still though.

so, 34 entered acc to AUK site last update - we should have a sweep, just for fun of course.  I reckon 25 will start and 21 will finish, but only 19 of those will be 'in time'.

Any chance you can post a link to the routes/tracks when done?  I will navigate by route sheet, but always useful to have a gpx track ticking away in the background.

Routesheet has a missing instruction in Yarm, between 2.8rd exit and T @ TL following there should be a right turn at a roundabout

how far from the 3rd exit - or is this the first O you come to?

There's only one in Yarm.

If someone with the routesheet copies the relevant instructions in, I can tell you what it should be.

stokesley to BCastle

L from Jet grge
1.7 R $ Seamer 1.5miles
8.2 L@T $ Yarm 2.5miles
2.8 3rd exit @O $ Darlo A67
<<suggested R@O>>
2.3 L@T/L $ Darlo A67
then lots of roundabouts

Those instructions look right to me - after the RAB on the A67 it's a long descent through the awful bottleneck of Yarm town centre, over the Tees and up to the traffic lights by the Durham Ox. Then, as you say loads of roundabouts through to Darlo. There aren't any missing roundabouts.

Simon, are you hitting an earlier RAB, to the east of Yarm?

won't be a bottleneck for me - it'll be evening before I get there, anyway I'll assume the RS is correct.  No gps navigation here.

You'll be reet. It's the A67 from Yarm all the way to Barnie.
