Ian Hislop has previous with Marsh Gibbon:

"Hislop (Ian Hislop, editor of private eye and veteran of Have I got News for You) was a violently aggressive, indiscriminate slogger, who for ever endeared himself to the team one day at the bizarrely named village of Marsh Gibbon.  He vaulted a fence to retrieve a six-hit, only to discover that the dried mud surface on to which he had jumped was in fact a thin crust covering a deep pool of liquid cowshit.”

From Penguins Stopped Play by Harry Thompson quoted on the Marsh Gibbon Cricket Club website.

Ian Hislop vaulting a fence?  Seems unlikely. ;)

Calling Bell Ringers  There must be quite a few bell ringing cyclists out there.  I've just checked if Marsh Gibbon has a Ring of Bells, they do, a ring of 5 at St. Mary the Virgin Church.

How about ringing 4 quarter peals this year to celebrate the Quarter milestones of Steve's cycling year?  The first of them would be Tuesday 31st March, just enough time to get 5 Ringers together for a Quarter of Grandsire Doubles.

The Quarter would be dedicated to Steve and his quest and would be forever recorded in the UK's bell ringing records.

MrsM and I definitely up for this: do we have five who can?

Steve wouldn't agree to it.

He's hoping for a Nobel prize.

The answer is; we have two, you two.  I'm away in Yorkshire on the 31st so can't do this one, would love to ride down and do 30th June. Should we start a separate thread to try and get another three?

Steve's Face Book page has 5,000 + followers, some of those may be Ringers.  I'll contact the tower.

Closing in rapidly on MARSH GIBBON and given the time of day a multi-Gibbon may be on the cards

Given all of the Marsh Gibbon shenanigans over the last couple of days, now may be the time to consider an official Gibbon recorder to ensure that all nuances of the Marsh Gibbon year are recorded for posterity the book.

And in other news , the British Geological Survey is investigating the formation of a new fault in the earth's crust in Buckinghamshire.  A spokesperson said:

"It's really odd. A new circular fault line just appeared, centred on some village or other. It must be caused by aliens with their laser beams. Either that or a bloke just riding round and round Marsh Gibbon on a bike, but that's simply not feasible."

I traced the track for yesterday on Strava and think it was a Gibbon record. I made it 12. Is that a record for Gibbon in a day?

All you have to do is count the angles.
