I've bought the green one but in normal rather than long length (now sold out)

Unfortunately I received my first card from the courier this morning. Lets see what happens next time

I went for the red one in normal length. I decided that comfort trumps weight, as it's a bit thicker.

Have gone for the collect in store option so I don't have to faff with couriers!

Thanks chaps, I have a store in Edinburgh (though the website denys this!) so I'm going to pop along at lunchtime.

Turns out we don't have a store in Edinburgh, so will try ordering online.

Not really camping gear but just ordered a couple of

Alpkit Airloc Xtra bags.

They were much cheeper than I thought so I have ordered an 8ltr and a 20ltr. The aim is to put sleeping bag and bivi in the 8ltr on my handlebars and the 20ltr on the top of my Topeak Beam Rack . I was going to use a pannier but found that the sides come off easily with the hex key bolt, and this Airloc bag should sit nicely on top.

A smaller fuel bottle, the better to carry on a bike - it fits in a standard bottle cage.

a potlifter, a long spoon and a stove lighter

You light your stoves with the long spoon?  How multi-functional! ;D
Getting there...

Yehh!! :D

I bought a flint striker after years of damp matches and then having to buy flare matches, which don't work as well as one would hope.

This is what I have: flint striker

Flints are no good for pressurised white gas stoves, though; with those, the main thing is to have the flame at the burner before you turn on the fuel, otherwise you can get a very alarming fireball.
Hard work sometimes pays off in the end, but laziness ALWAYS pays off NOW.

Oops! Must have been a copy error - shift-C or something :-[
Sparker, as on a lighter. I've never really got on with the rod and scraper type of sparker.

Yes indeed.
The technique is to have a sufficient quantity of priming fuel that it doesn't burn out before the burner is hot, and use the sparker to light the priming fuel.
(it is quite likely that I'm used to different pressure stoves than you, so YMMV)

I use the flint sparker on my MSR Whisperlite Universal just fine. It has a priming bowl at th foot of the stove. You open the pressurised tap for half a second and then close. This fills the bowl, which lights with a spark. Simples.

The simmer control on my MSR Dragonfly is precise enough that I can easily get just the right amount of fuel in the cup to light it off with a flint sparker. The simmer control also lets me add a small quantity of fuel after the primer fuel is lit, without creating quite such a massive fireball. The massive fireball can be fun, though, as long as you're ready for it.

My recent purchases: Marmot Plasma 30 sleeping bag (water repellent 875 fill power down, water repellent shell, comfort rating of -1 degree C), and a Black Diamond Icon headlamp (head torch?). Do NOT turn on the Icon while looking at the bulb, unless you have plenty of spare time to let the spots clear from your vision. The Icon is more of a true mountaineering/caving headlamp, for trips where one expects to be routefinding or traveling in the dark. The Black Diamond Storm is probably a better choice for the cycle tourist, etc. who wants something for around the campsite after dark, or who might be traveling after dark.

I've always bought Vangos for the Scout Group, Reasonably priced and dependable. Easy enough for the kids to manage themselves and all cos I don't mind putting up a tent or two but have nightmares about having to put up dozens, some of which were greenlanders.
Somewhat of a professional tea drinker.

I've got a few Ti pots but my Titan Kettle is my favorite.  I love how the lid stays on when you pure out the water, big enough for a dehydrated meal and cup of tea, and you can store your stove in it or a big cannister.

An Exped Schnozzel valve adaptor, as it seems to be the right size for mating the electric pump with a Downmat's inlet, and a lot less fiddly than MacGyvering a spare inner tube (which is in itself less effort than all the CPR required by the built-in pump).
