Convert from Autoroute to Garmin

Those of us who have Garmins but find the Mapsource GUI a tad terrible might like to try this

Plan your route using Autoroute and convert the .axe file to .gpx ready for Mapsource

works fine, will also talk to TomToms and others, and it's free

Or vice versa, I see.
Good find!
Also converts 'old Autoroute' .axe files to 'new Autoroute' .axe - very useful.

Another useful feature I found today!

When organisers provide a .gpx file it  makes using the GPS a doddle

This gives a fully working .gdb trace (with some additions to avoid ambiguities) but if you then want to get an idea of climbing or view on a proper map, loading the .gpx into Memory Map doesn't give a very good track as there are too few waypoints.

If you let ITN convert the .gdb file back to a .gpx it handily expands the number of waypoints, giving a much better track.

For example, Manotea's Anfractious .gpx file has 92 points - the expanded .gpx has 738 - a useful increase!

BTW - it isn't obvious in Mapsource but if you select all the waypoints in the .gpx track and right click you get the option to make a route out of the waypoints.
Only discovered that after spending ages tracing out routes over the track points!!

Wingdb3 is also very useful for doing some things that Mapsource ought to be able to do but can't.
