Don't normally reply to post like this Phillip but may I request that you reconsider your post to remove the political statement at the end of it?

I know: as do most people on this board, that you have an issue with Cycling UK but using someone's death to highlight this seems a little unpleasant to me.

Just my 5p worth.

https://www.cyclinguk.org/campaign/fill-hole ?

Yes I know about that , but my sources tell me from highest level that there was going to be a higher profile campaign with joint work with others , but it did not happen.

CUK isn’t to blame for this sad affair, Benstead.

UPDATE

I now understand from my  sources that this incident was the result of raised iron work in the road where road works was in progress.

But my point still stands that all road users need to come together to campaign at national and local level to secure  increase road maintenance funding.

I'm slightly wary of this; obviously nobody is against proper maintenance, but I'd want to be sure that this isn't broadened into a push for other objectives that might be detrimental to cyclists:
* Should we patch up sub-standard road layouts that are dangerous to pedestrians and other vulnerable road users?
* Will this be used to support road-building and repair enabling continued personal car use at the cost of alternative transport options?

The enduring popularity of the Conservative party would suggest otherwise.

Well yes, but the fuckers do buy into the Mail's ending the war on the motorist rubbish - wasn't there stuff in the news this morning about more road-building plans?
