London - Northern Line - Circular structures
« on: 11 October, 2019, 01:07:58 pm »
In my daily amble along the route of the Northern Line it's finally come to my notice that there are a series of circular structures.

Here's a few : -
Stockwell
Clapham High St
Clapham North

I presume they're something to do with the construction and/or venting of the tube line, but I can't find anything on Google about them.

Can anyone point me in the right direction ?

Coincidentally, your link to the Stockwell structure gave me quite a shock.
My grandfather's name is carved on that adjacent war memorial.
Even more surprising is it is the name with the poppy on a cross next to it!

That is bizarre. I've been pondering about these structures for a few months now.

You can go visit the deep level shelter under Clapham South. I've done all the tours which makes me an official nerd.

channel 5+1 has a documentary about them right now.  WHat's going on this week?

Are we getting ready for the 31st?

EDIT - just a general doc about the Picadilly line, I just started watching at a wartime section
