A lot of the comments are from people vehemently opposed to the congestion charge.

There was a motorcycle arranged to participate but it wouldn't start.

Petrol is approaching £6 a gallon and will continue to rise, congestion charging will spread to all big cities and towns, traffic will continue to increase as the actual price of cars decreases.

It doesn't matter what these ignorant tossers say now because pretty soon they'll all be in Halfords looking at bikes.

I used to do that same (cycle) commute, from Stockport to Manchester along the A6 most weeks and it was great fun keeping up with and overtaking the cars.

Most, if not all, the bad feeling is jealousy, seeing someone riding a few hundred quids worth of bike beating their £55,000 185mph uber-cruiser.  Let's face it, Jeremy Clarkson assured them it was the fastest thing money could by and, quite simply (pause) "Astonishing".  He never mentioned it was considerably slower than a £75 Halfords Mountain Bike 99% of the time.

I note there was no mention that the cyclist was a member of Manchester Tri Club ;D
