Oooh... my Abs
« on: 14 August, 2008, 12:05:38 pm »
Easing myself back into workouts at the gym following the June episode with my Knee.

I've lost a lot of core tone from too much sitting about ::-). Yesterday, I did 80 reps with one of those slider things, followed by 5x10 crunches, followed by 3x30s of http://www.youtube.com/v/MHQmRINu4jU&rel=1.

'Kin ell, my Abs have serious DOMS today... >:(

Just don't make me laugh, OK?

I have a new program from the gym, The Plank and push ups, alternating with 45 seconds rest in between sets. Lungs with hand weights alternating with hamstring curls. Plus other stuff that makes me ache.

when I first read the title I thought it was a continuation of Elleigh's lost time thread...

I started to do the plank about six weeks ago. I struggled to 60 seconds the first time and spent the rest of the week feeling like I had stomach ache! Now managing to do 2 minutes without too much trouble. I think it has made a difference on the bike too.

Chris, if you want me to give you some nice little exercises for your abs, just yell. Can you hang from the bars?

Core strength makes a huge difference on the bike .

All cyclists should have a Swiss Ball, do The Plank every day, and an assortment of other Ab related torture.

Cross training with rowing is also a good thing. It's no coincidence that some athletes swap between rowing and cycling at an elite level.

My Abs are feeling better today, though still a little tender. Back to the crunches/slider/Plank on Monday!

That naughty step is empty but if you continue for much longer it won't be :-*

Are you scared of the bars?

I do Dips and Chin-ups on the bars. Being a Fat Bastard, I have to use the machine at the Gym that does weight assisted Bars - I can't do bareback ;)

Can the naughty step double up for step exercises?

But bareback is so much fun, especially if I attach some weights to your ankles. :demon:

If you have to ask then you know what you should be doing.
