I did try to take a picture of something bridge-like on the Truckee river east of Reno this morning but the camera is having conniptions and claiming the cover of the card compartment is open when it isn't and not taking the photo and I only discovered this much later after chasing a lizard round a car park for five minutes.

Bah!

Some bridgeage from my holibob so far-

An road bridge across the Rapid Creek, Rapid City SD-

A footbridge across a dry stream bed in the City Park

A road bridge across the Yellowstone River, Yellowstone National Park-

The same bridge with a bit of Upper Falls action-

A walkway bridge across the one of the hot springs beds at the park-

A bit of squee action as an Elk calf climbs onto the bridge to follow mum to some more food-

Finally a footbridge across a creek feeding into String Lake, Grand Tetons National Park, WY-

After a bridgey drought of more than a week, we present:

P9180368 by Mr Larrington, on Flickr.  This curious object, which I think is an aid to deer migration, crosses US-93 not far north of Wells NV.

P9180369 by Mr Larrington, on Flickr.  Fairly ordinary concrete slab carrying US-93 across South Salmon Creek just south of Jackpot NV.

P9180374 by Mr Larrington, on Flickr.  Hayden Bridge carrying ID-50 across the Snake River near Rock Creek ID.  The Perrine Bridge with US-93 downstream at Twin Falls was featured in 2013's peregrinations; the site of Evel Knievel's farcical attempt to jump the Snake River lies between the two.

The Snake River is just across the road from my resting place in Idaho Falls so the possibility of bridginess is fair to middlin', but not now coz I'm hungry.

The Prairie Provinces of Canada™ are not known for their mighty rivers rushing through deep gorges and plummeting over stupendous wossnames, and even the Trans-Canada Highway isn't grade separated so there aren't many road bridges either.  You will have to make do with this:

And, belatedly, all the Belgian bridges (plus one in Germany):

Albert Bridge is a bit of a throat-lumper, Dean: my paternal grandma, who disappeared when I was -33 and my Dad was 0, lived near Albert road as a girl, I think.  Obviously before paint was invented.  Great picture, thanks.

Excellent stuff from everyone!  Dave, the American builders seem to have an fine grasp of engineering but can't be accused of architecture, it seems!

That would be because Google are dropping the ability to embed photos apparently. Looks like I'll have to find a new photo storage site :(

[edit] They should work now, but it's now impossible to create any new public albums on Google Images, so it's time to leave

While there were plenty of fair to middling bridges around Lake Superior, what with it being fed by a shedload of rivers an' t'ing, the ones that weren't being rebuilt, widened, strengthened or polished were completely free from stopping places that didn't have a tree in the way.  But I got a few today:

P9230049 by Mr Larrington, on Flickr.  About halfway across International Bridge over the St Mary's River between Sault Ste Marie ON and, er, Sault Ste Marie MI.  We must have been on the USAnian side because the speed limit is in mph.

P9230050 by Mr Larrington, on Flickr.  Ramp leading down to the USAnian immigration post from the International Bridge.

P9230051 by Mr Larrington, on Flickr.  Looking back in the general direction of Canuckistan.

P9230052 by Mr Larrington, on Flickr.  Not sure whether this is a bridge or something today with Soo Locks, but it looks a bit bridgey.

P9230053 by Mr Larrington, on Flickr.  Bridgetto leading to downtown Sault Ste Marie MI.

P9230062 by Mr Larrington, on Flickr.  Towers of Mackinac Bridge from about three miles away.

P9230064 by Mr Larrington, on Flickr.  Mackinac Bridge from quite a lot closer.  Crosses the Mackinac Strait which is the wossname connecting Lakes Michigan and Huron.

P9230065 by Mr Larrington, on Flickr.  Western Half-Devil Monster Face van Schaik has had to put up with the bridge-spotting antics of this last week and is now getting quite into it.

P9230066 by Mr Larrington, on Flickr.  Bridgelet carrying I-75 towards the Mackinac Bridge proper.

P9230071 by Mr Larrington, on Flickr.  Southbound again...

Footbridge over the Wye between Monmouth and Symonds Yat. Has a sign telling you not to jump, bounce, run or cross in groups of more than six.

12th (or was it 13th?) century defensive gateway on bridge over the Monnow into Monmouth. Random cyclist.
Riding a concrete path through the nebulous and chaotic future.

My chum Professor Nogami tells me that if, on the one day a year you're allowed to cycle over the Mackinac Bridge, you use the left lane and get the speed right, the mesh deck disappears from view and gives the impression, presumably, of riding on thin air a couple of hundred feet above some rather deep and cold water :o

Packhorse bridge at Wasdale Head, 'cos it was Wasdale Show at the weekend and it would have been rude not to.

Can't remember whether I've posted this before. It was taken on a  FNRTTC, to Hull.

A bridge count of seven from my city..... or is it eight?
