Cycling tuition
« on: 05 June, 2008, 03:14:28 pm »
This is something I'd really like to get into. I've just priced up the instructor course (with BikeRight in Manchester) and I know about the CTC bursary (although it's in a state of flux right now).

I'm just wondering is it worth it? Is there enough work out there for another cycling instructor? (Even part time?)

Yes it is very worth it.

having an elderly lady cycling round a car park with tears streaming down her face because she felt in control of a bike for the first time in her life was very well worth it.  Son had been trying to teach her for years!!

There is a very big benefit in that all thngs to do with cycling can be offset against tax.  Even the best bike so long as it is used for a few lessons, level 3 around town, is offsetable.

I have not made a profit yet, so no tax paid, but loads of new stuff.  The tax man accepts this as I am teaching part time, and therefore not dependant on profit to live.
