Special tool for strange screws (yes, yes, I know...)

(1/3) > >>

Peter:
I want to change the plug lead on a transformer which supplies a keyboard.  The transformer is held together with those "security screws" which are designed to make the equipment unfixable by the person who has paid for it.  They are like ordinary screws but the slot doesn't go all the way across the head and they are deeply set, necessitating the use of some sort of pronged driver.  Is it possible to get such a tool, from Screwfix, say?  Does this tool have a name?  I suppose I could mackle one from an old screwdriver, but it would be easier to get one.

Thanks

Peter

Chris N:
Sounds like a spanner bit.  Should be easily available, often as part of a set with other tamper proof or security driver bits.

Peter:
Cheers, Chris.  (Nice to see you yesterday.)

Biggsy:
Ebay is probably the cheapest source for security bit sets, accounting for postage.

mrcharly-YHT:
If you are just changing the plug lead, why do you need to get into the transformer?

I'd just cut the lead and put on a new plug.  Or do you have lead+plug  and want to replace it at the transformer end?
