It appears that simply riding a stage of the Tour de France is sufficient to turn boring looking athletic men into either:

a) Extras from The Great Escape
b) Strangely attractive androgynous psychopaths
c) Marvel superheroes

Fascinating.


(I look forward to the Teethgrinder version, in which he looks exactly the same in both pictures because he never stops riding his bike.)

Fantastic series of portraits!

I just love the grime on everyone's arms and faces etc. and as for those who been patched up along the way, well, they really are made of tougher stuff than I.
Right! What's next?

Well, the effect seems to vary between "extras from The Great Escape", rugged explorers and Quasimodo/Forest Gump, depending largely on what face they pull.  :D
