What's that all about ???

I walked past this today. I'm sorry that it's not quite a gibbon.

Cross-country crows fly along great circles.

Really? I assumed they fly rhumb line routes using a constant bearing from celestial bodies / magnetism. Travelling along a great circle requires either stretching a string between your start and end points, a gnomic chart, some spherical trigonometry or vector maths.
This really ought to get my vote for PostOfTheDay.

Unfortunately Oaky has cheated, and outdone you by quoting possibly my favourite line from TV Comedy ever.

Anyway: thanks both of you :)

Wouldn't it be great if Mortagne-au-Perche was twinned with Marsh Gibbon?

In 80 years time when it comes time for the cycling historians to sift through the forum as they sit down to write the book on the great HAMR battle of 2015, they're going to look at this thread, and just think WTF?!!!

I think if Tarzan's team ever look here, they'll be slightly confused too. At what point shall we unleash the Narwhals?

If I were organising an Easter Arrow this year, instead of being in USAnia, the route would SO go through Marsh Gibbon!

It is!

The twinning ceremony was held yesterday in a special ceremony to mark the Mayor's birthday.

It is a little-known fact that Elizabeth Taylor is a serving member of Marsh Gibbon parish council.

It may be less formal, but, given the sausage associations, wouldn't it be more appropriate for MG to be 'linked' with the forum/Mortagne au Perche, rather than 'twinned''?

Brill!  ;D
About 6 miles too far south, and much too steep a hill for a year-long TT.

One day further into another Gibbon drought.  The calendar says he's heading for Lowestoft tomorrow, so I don't envision a Gibbon either tomorrow or Wednesday.

Looks like the drought is well and truly broken today.  A double Gibbon already, with scope for more.

According to the tracker he's been stationary just outside Stratton Audley for nearly 30 mins.

Is there anything there or do we think he might have had a mechanical?

Nowt there at all, apart from potholes. He's not far from the Red Lion though, which is my bike club's spiritual home  :D

Hope he's OK

The last point posted that I can see was at 12.54, but it gave his average speed as 16.4mph. He doesn't normally turn the tracker off when he's at lunch, does he?
