The Hare Krishna people came to Forest Hill yesterday.
That's a first IME.
They were distributing glossy leaflets.
And orange peace.
Two men and two women.
Dressed in their traditional robes.
With decoration down the centre of their foreheads and bridge of their noses.
One of the women was slightly incongruent in her appearance in as much as she was wearing platform soled Doctor Martens.
I guess if they encountered any bovver, she would be the nominated individual to deal with it.

Morning. On an Audax you will see lots of different bikes from steel tourers to carbon 'race' bikes so there isn't one right answer.

Halfords will sell you a useable bike but it's worth looking at other options. Decathlon bikes are very good value and they have stores at Surrey Quays (which you could reach by train) or Lakeside (bus or drive).

I got my Audax bike second-hand on Gumtree (from a chap in Gravesend) and it works really well. I did upgrade the saddle and tyres from the original ones.

Sad story of Little Chef…
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-68796980
They were brilliant places for a business trip breakfast. And notable for a significant number of Downs folk amongst their employees.
OTOH those in non-business locations could be pretty grim, the one I recall like that being close to the Holyhead ferry port.

They were popular Audax controls.
ISTR teethgrinder had a particular penchant for them back in the day.

If you are trying to recover files from an unreadable drive, than I'm not sure adding a Linux machine to the mix is going to help much.

If you install a fresh Win11 on a new SSD, then go ahead and do that.

Not sure what you mean when you say it 'doesn't work in the laptop but works in the caddy'.
You might need to explain exactly what you mean by that.

If it works in the caddy, then just plug the caddy into the freshly-installed machine as a secondary drive, and copy the files over?

The laptop doesn't boot with the drive in the laptop.  Not sure that the laptop is damaged beyond repair. The drive can be seen in a reader  just I can't access the files as windows says I don't have admin access.

Trying to help the ex.
