Wouldn't there be more room and seclusion on the north side of Col du Danbury - eg Danbury Common?

Good idea.  Where precisely?

Dunno - wherever other people aren't!
Those wonderful norks are never far from my thoughts, oh yeah!

Isn't Danbury Common a National Trust site? If so they won't be keen on BBQs, fires, stoves etc.

To be honest it's not really a suitable pastime at this time, I don't really want to be skulking about cooking outside on common land.

Best to leave the cooking for jossers birthday meet, maybe.

It's awkward enough meeting up at the moment anyway without firing up your stove outside someone's house on North Hill.

Everywhere else is common land or public parks, it's just asking for trouble.

Better to keep Wednesday nights low key and at an appropriate place where we're not crowding out or annoying the locals.

It's for your own good.

I can predict someone coming along, arguing with Septic and chinning him just as he's about to tuck into his special sausage.

If we want to err on the side of caution I'm happy to go along with it.

If you want somewhere with plenty of space, how about Hylands Park? Massive. Could have loads of us 2 metres apart and not be near a soul....

Well, coming from your direction, the way you had it on your Shit Roads route. Although some people don't like crossing the A12 A1060 A414 aka 3 Mile Hill / London Road.... So maybe people would prefer the tradesman's entrance in Writtle. There are of course many covert entry points too, but are not generally suited to road bicylces....

Writtle is signposted along the cycleway from Admirals Park and Hylands Park from the end of that in Writtle.

Thanks bobbers.

I'm still keen to cook me tea on me Trangia but don't want to cause any civil unrest.  I could just do a private Billy No Mates thing, I have some ideas, and join up with folks later.  Or we go could do the Hylands Park option - I have no particular preference.

I should make it out tomorrow, 7:30 at Spa Rd or is there an earlier gathering?

If we get a soggy Wednesday there is a back garden with about 20 sq meters of rain cover available. The workshop has been tarted up (I know the bench is there by seeing it rather than on the basis that the crap would be nearer the floor if it wasn't).

I owe you a beer or two for the bespoke wheel fixing bolts which work a treat, but unfortunately you will need to wait a couple of weeks as I've got clashes this week and next

Danbury common oops The Cricketers looks like a better option from my looking today. I'm prepping one of my tour teas of tuna and rice, french bread missing though but :(

I may be able to join you all tonight (possibly with Dr Jos)

I do have to observe strict social distancing though.
