Winchelsea 100k Sunday 12th October 2014
« on: 08 September, 2014, 02:13:05 pm »
Departing from Hailsham at 9am Sun 12th Oct, this is an excellent ride for neophytes and recidivists alike, indeed all cyclists will be well catered for. Step forward El Supremo.
The coastal route via Normans Bay, Cooden, Hastings, Fairlight, Pett Level to Winchelsea and a grand feed.
The return rolls gently via Cripps Corner, Netherfield, Cross in Hand and Waldron.

On last years event (Winchelsea Tea and Cake 100), Bob McHardy helped at the start and finish. At Winchelsea when he wasn't stamping cards he was easing the rain out of the sagging Gazebos! Alas Bob died on his way home after helping at an event late last year.
Hopefully the weather will be an improvement on last years and we will be treated to a dry and nice warm autumnal day.

You may wish to reset the privacy settings on http://ridewithgps.com/routes/5613930 which currently state: "THE ROUTE YOU ARE TRYING TO VIEW IS PRIVATE."

Other than that it sounds like an interesting route and lovely autumn route.  It least it must descend rather than ascend Battery Hill!

Privacy settings now removed and yes a descent rather than an ascent of Assault and Battery hill. El supremo may wish to go clockwise next year, so make this the year to give it a go!

Have this one pencilled in for CET Junior and myself.   El Supremo rides are always a favourite.

1177 metres is the metric equivalent, don't tell me I have used imperial for the gpx route. Definitely worth dusting down the cheque book for and looking forward to seeing the non points chasing Zoom.
You may need to empty your shoes on an El Supremo ride but you certainly won't have to empty your wallet.

it's probably my RWG settings;

1177m; walk in the park  :) except those 1177m are all on the Fairlight road  ;D

Just spent some time plugging in a gps course for this one from the instructions- I always find it helps to do this with route finding on the ride itself. Looking forward to it!

Would love to ride it, but will be in Spain. It is a fine route, thobut....
Besides, it wouldn't be audacious if success were guaranteed.

Is the lunch stop at Fairlight ?   I'm having a bit of time off but may come down for a chat and cake.

El Supremo and his underlings Richard Phipps (Phixie) and Chris Tracey (Lurcio) look forward to a very good attendance of the 75 entries.
Next up the Spordax 100 on the 9th November, El Supremo and helpers will be moving indoors for this one (Hampers Green Community Centre although the H will be replaced by a P on this day).

The weather indeed held off and a good day was had by all. 75 entered the event and of the 66 starters 57 were validated. Big thanks to Phixie for the validating.

Good plug your Madness! Great events, looking forward to them.
You need a faster shutter speed for these boys (old school)
