I used to be a member of:

when I owned a cheesemongers and wine merchants

I paid a visit to a cheese shop today but, as is not too unusual, did not find much of what I was looking for.  But I managed to get some Mull, Dunsyre, Camembert, and Hawes Mature Wensleydale.

The cheese plate is shaping up as:
Greens Glastonbury Cheddar (parents live there - so it has to be)
Cornish Yarg
a Somerset Camembert
a Tunworth Soft 'brie'
and... some Colston Basset blue - I've now tried a bit and... it's not bad...

I was amazed just how much cheese people get - some one in front of me was getting more or less quarter of a round of expensive cheddar, plus the rest; his bill was knocking on £60.  Mind you, I suppose if you're having lots of guests.  Great shop... Wells Store - Farmhouse Cheeses

Ok.  I have risen early to avoid the tidal wave of miserable humanity and done the christmas food shopping.

We Have:

Vacherin (seems to have been discovered by the rest of the world this year)
Cromwell stilton
Emmental (cost £5 for not very much, but it is yummy)
Manchego (because I didn;'t plan on getting the emmental)
Gouda (not as old as I'd like it to be)
Chevre
Parkham Farmhouse cheddar
Afterburner (strong cheddar with chillies and garlic... not that crap you get in the supermarket though)

...some 1995 Warres port to wash it down, with a 1990 Pontet canet first.

The Cheese Shop in Preston closed, but we weren't having that, so it's back.
