[HAMR] 9th November, Teethgrinder day 94/313

Go Steve !!

We cant wait for the day when you can take a chunk of the distance below the WR pace. Its tougher than unbelieveably hard just now due to weather and gut issues, but we're willing you on.

Come on Steve !!

About 70 miles off WR average.
Planning to try to average 205-210mpd until the wind drops then try to regain losses and maybe pull ahead in better weather.
Trying and succeeding to get stronger ready for winter. The stronger I get, the easier I'll take it until I can do more miles even more easily.
In spite of worsening weather I'm still holding a steady 210mpd average, which was stuffed up a bit by the low mileage day the other day, but that was planned and everything is under control.

Just aiming for 200 today. May do more if I stray too far from home or feel especiaaly good, but aiming to finish before midnight without flogging myself.
Just nipping out for a gentle bike ride so gotta go...

Great stuff!  Glad to hear the other day was planned - you had us worried for a bit on the day!
You are in a maze of twisty flat droves, all alike.

Hmmm, making good use of the tailwind today I think! I wonder if anyone can give him a lift back to MK overnight for tomorrow? This would seem like a great strategy with the strong SW wind at the moment if it were possible to sleep while travelling!

Wasn't that part of Godwins strategy, but using the railways, which in those days used to run overnight?

I think he heard you Mr L.  ;D

An about turn just outside Buxton (!) and heading back up the road. (Obviously couldn't cadge a lift back from RAF Coltishall to avoid the wind).

Keep at it Steve, despite the conditions, a good solid 145+ miles so far.

I would, if I'd have had warning!

ETA: In fact, there's a lot of wind forecast this week. If there's a support team member watching, and there's any perceived need for into-wind transport - please do let me know.

Yep, definitely looks to be an away day today.  Will the wind be as strong tomorrow?

Nothing on Strava yet. The tracker was up to 182 miles before I went to bed and he was nearly in Lowestoft.

How long does Strava/HAMR allow for updates to be posted? 12/24hrs?

24 hours normally. But they have been flexible when there have been technical problems. Also, Strava isn't the official record, so it is possible for a rider to pass the data to UMCA via other means.

The data was probably being blown away as he was uploading it....
