Garmin that plots a sensible route.

Not perfect though.

Jag Whitley to home TomTom, 14.6 miles using Daventry Road and Spencer Avenue in S Coventry.
Garmin, 15.2 miles using Cycle Paths through the centre of Coventry and the B4101.

Basecamp behaving itself. Copy a GPX into the GPX folder on the SD card, chop it, trim it, change its name and its on the SD card to be used.

After a mental wrestle with myself, I took the Garmin back and got a refund.

My logic.
After going through numerous combinations of settings, I ask the Garmin to plot a route between work and home with the unit switched to 'Cycling' and 'Optimise by distance'. It produces a route of 15.2 miles. The shortest of any combination.
With the TomTom adjusted to 'By Bicycle' and 'Prefer minor roads', I ask the TomTom to plot the same route from work to home and it produces a route of 14.6 miles.

Why would I want a device which cannot give me the shortest route?

I've gone 'back to the future' with an eTrex Vista HCx from eBay for  £65 to replace my Vista Cx which had decided to stop reading the SD Card.
