Author Topic: Around Chester - Capenhurst to Flint then NCR 5 (Route request / Local knowledge  (Read 1340 times)

Hi forum people,

Looking for a heads up on negotiating from my sisters house (Capenhurst/Mollington area) to the NCR 5 Flint then off into north Wales.

Maps show a cycle route or path - 563, but this looks inconsistent at best and I dont want to be left to the mercy of the local A roads and dual carrigeways  :-[ :-\

Any help much appreciated

From Capenhurst you can avoid almost all the A-roads by using route 563, and then joining NCN route 5 to Hawarden Bridge.  From there, Wales is your oyster; the route from Conwy to Bangor via Penmaenmawr is spectacular and a bit mental in a few places; I rode it in July 2015.

From Mollington the going is more pleasant, and you can pick up route 5 from Blacon sooner, and belt out to Hawarden Bridge.

I like that you think any of your conveyances might qualify as "a disguise".

Many thanks for the reply

Pity I didn't read it before I set off  :-[

I rode from Mollington - Blacon - Saughall - Shotton - Queensferry - Flint etc. What a mistake that was on a Friday, I eventually picked up NCR5 at Rhyl.

I will return and try your routes out  ;)
