Title: Cheap, very dry red wine recommendation.
Post by: Andrew Br on 18 October, 2016, 06:28:50 pm
Mulled wine season is rapidly approaching.
I've found, after exhaustive research. that it's best when the base is a very dry, very tannic red. The kind that makes your teeth feel that they've got several cm of plaque on them after a couple of sips.
Back in the day I'd have chosen Bulgarian Bulls Blood but, these days, the cheap reds that I've tried are all very "smooth" and "fruity". They're also crap but that's by the by.

Any ideas for cheap bottles from the major supermarkets that fit my criteria ?

You might be able to find a cheap malbec in Lidl/Aldi that might fit the bill.
