...or do PE groundsheets decay in storage?  It's only been used about twice, but the last time was 8 years ago.

It's a Eurohike == Milletts Chinese-made shite.

But then if it's seeing daylight you are worried about, pitching it upside down during the hours of darkness wouldn't matter at all.

Generally groundsheets are the thickest and most hardwearing part of tents, so you probably shouldn't be able to see much light through it.

If you're worried about it, you should be able to find something to peg down as a footprint under it, although given it's origin I doubt you'll find a real footprint, as such.
Actually, it is rocket science.

You can see daylight where the groundsheet kicks up around the edges of the sleeping compartments.  The weave of the sheet is intact but whatever coating they put on it seems to be breaking up into black dust.  It definitely went away dry (and there's no mould), but the loft gets some extremes of temperature.

If it has to go, what's a good tent, not too expensive, for 4 people (two separate sleeping compartments; we're not going in with the farting children)?

Given how little you're likely to use it Tesco have some 4/6 man tents that might fit the bill.

Or you could buy a 2 man and a 3 man for £25.00

Alternatively Decathlon ones, a bit more expensive, would probably last a bit longer and be better quality.

There were some amazing tent prices in the Millets sale today. I very nearly bought a two-man for £24...(£50 off) but we already have a pile of similar sized tents in the loft. Oh well.

Millets - Cheap Tents - Buy Tents Including 2 Man Tents, 3 Man Tents, Family Tents, Pop-up Tents, Shelter   & Gazebos.

edited - the tents I saw today were advertised in a Millets window - I can't see them on that website, sorry.

Look, just stop fucking about with tents and get yourself a caravan. I know some people that will hook you straight up with a nice caravan. If you want better, theres also motorhomes.
Want something cheaper and more tent like, we got trailor tents.
Tents, pah ::-) ::-)
