The book is special to me, for it was one that was found for me by a nurse during a stay in hospital I fictionalised for my first novel. I was post-overdose in an old-fashioned male surgical ward where old men got up in the middle of the night to pee on the floor, while one went through flashback nightmares, very vocal, about being shot up by a nightfighter in the war.
