The yACF muso thread!
« on: 03 April, 2008, 12:20:42 am »
I worry that this might not be considered "art" or "entertainment", but....

I know many (y)ACFersTM like to pleasure themselves in the indulgence of playing music.

If you fall into this category, post your choons here.

This is a little, ironic blues song I recorded in my bedroom a little while ago.

Play it straight form the link, or d/l it depending on how badly you want to hear my singing  :P

Here goes:

I tempted to record my grunge Bagpuss theme but I'm not that cruel. And I can't be called a muso as it's one of the the few choons I've learnt so far.

Record and post your  grunge Bagpuss theme !!!

We had a thread like this on (yet)another forum, and all the best choons were by people who thought they'd be rubbish.

Post away - if you don't, I'll have to post some (bad) funk tracks!!

Not that I have anything to put on this thread, but--where do you post sound files (other than this Zaribor studio thing; I'm not one of their customers). What's the sound-file equivalent of Flickr or YouTube?

Zaribor is bobb's personal web host type thing - I've been a bit cheeky and ftp'd some of my tunes up to there (he never should have given me the password!) If you don't have access to a web host I'm not sure where you could go that would be free.

[edit] I just googled 'mp3 share' and got a load of returns - I've not head of any of them, but might be worth looking into.

I must confess to being another muso. Play sax with anyone that can put up with me. Currently play in a couple of (mainly) pub bands: Get Carter (mostly blues) and The Bodegas (poppy rock?).

Haven't got any tunes to post. I just make it up as I go along.  ;D

It's a while since I played in a band that did original stuff. But, having just written that, I've just remembered a guy contacted me to do some prog(?) stuff in the near future, so that may change.

There are gig lists on both band sites if anyone wants to see an old man make an arse of himself.  ;D
There's no vibrations, but wait.

When Mrs Z and the kids are away next week I'll record a Billy Bragg song in the bathroom.  Y'see, I don't have an amp with dual inputs so I can't use it to add reverb to my voice.

I go by the name of Whackson Jackson, and I done this Untitled Good Deed
Nice one, mate! Not heard that before. Like it.

BTW, if anyone wants to upload stuff I can give the ftp details via PM. I've paid for it anyway, so it's really no hassle....

I'm only responsible for the bass. The singer/songwriter/guitarist is Rob Moore, everything else, including the recording, Toby Deans.

Thread necromancy  :demon:

I thought it was brilliant (guilty secret...I often set Winamp to the AOL electric blues radio channel).  How much of the instrumentation did you do?

Ta. All of it. Well, the drums are obviously not real - I knocked those up in PC Drummer Pro (which takes ages to do!) So you have drums, bass, two almost identical rhythm tracks, the lead and vocals....
