If you've not been to Big Al's Temple of Cycling Delights, you won't have seen the notice on the shop door, along these lines:

" I am closed on Sundays for religious reasons.
I cycle religiously on a Sunday."

It's a bit weird, but actually quite wonderful.

I shall be there for my first ever Audax.

I'll be the big bloke on the black Ribble with the worried expression at the start and the pained expression at the end.

See you there.
Weather forecast for the weekend?
It's character building verging on epic.

Good luck to all for the Pitlochry entertainment on Sunday, esp RJMcB on his New Bike, the convalescing Mr Valkyrie, scych and other newbies.

Mr Noodley and I will indeed be "otherwise engaged". Please pray for our salvation.   O:-)

I'll be the wee bloke on the blue Aravis with a blue jacket / jersey.

Valkyrie will be the bigger bloke on the Airborne Valkyrie.

See you there

Enjoy the ride

I think the route is the same/very similar to my first ever audax in September 2006 - so this route is/may be to blame for all that has followed  ;D

Mibbee not -  if it looks like it's going to stay dryish then I'll be wheeling out my new bike for its debut on the Audax circuit. ;D

Scych will be on his brand new Ribble, GlasgowDave on his almost brand new Planet-X, Me on my brand new Look & RJMcB on his brand new Aravis - a lot of money travelling very slowly! we'll be avoiding puddles and dusting down the paintwork at every control.

So Mr Valkyrie the carbon bling gets rolled out at last.  I wonder how much weight you are also saving by riding 'sans gallbladder'.  I hope you've recovered well and have a good day out.  The unoffical tour of east lothian may be the only ride where I am able to hold my own with you on the hills ;-)

Rubbish! you will be okay on the hills on your 600 as well - you WILL be doing your SR this year!!

...just look at us plebs from last year.

Noodley, today I just took delivery of a new brooks team professional, with the view of getting it on to my audax bike.  However, I'm not sure if it'll be broken in this season.  I couldn't possibly consider a 600 on a new saddle  ;)

Seriously, I'll consider an SR on the basis of the Snow Roads.  I reckon if I get round that, an easier 400 & 600 are within my grasps.  I suppose that I do need to get around the deeside loop and dee-lechtable before that though.  I'm also considering getting up to Portmahomack for the Durness Duress weekend - I've just bought a decent tent and sleeping bag and need to begin using it.

Och no.  It doesnae work that way.  You'll be fine.  Nae need for Deeside Loop, Dee-lachtable, Snow Roads "progression"... I can safely say you can do a SR this year, nae bother.

Nae need for tents - if you want to ride a SR, you can stay "locally"

Can't make it for the Pitlochry, but hopefully catch some of you for Deeside Loop in a couple of weeks.

Hope the new bikes perform well - have a good day now.

That was really good fun today.   Weather was fantastic, route great, company excellent.  I even managed to keep Mr Fawcett et al in sight until after Daguise!  :o

Oh, Eck, Noodley.  The minister was hanging about at the leisure centre looking for you this afternoon. It seems you two didn't show up to hand out the hymn books this morning.   ::-)

Ahem. While you lot were swanning about, posing on your new bikes and eating cake, Rev Noodley and I were out doing a proper ride.  O:-) O:-)

Glad you had a nice day. So did we.  :P

I'm alive! After an undocumented (and unintentional) additional 18k to make sure we got up to the 100 mile distance ::-)  I can safely say that was a great day. Great weather, great views and the company wasn't bad either.

My legs hurt, my back is a bit sore (some fiddling may be required to seating position, stem length etc. on the bike).

Just wish I hadn't got one of the questions wrong on the post box info control.  :-\
