BT Business Broadband Fibre To The Cabinet which is about 400 metres away  (we should be getting FTTP when our contract comes up in about April 24)

Working fine here on Plusnet, no fibre involved as far as I know.

If it's a DNS issue, you could try using the Mega-Global Search Corporation of Mountain View, USAnia's 8.8.8.8 DNS server, instead of our-favourite-telco's offering?
